His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, stressed the importance of public communication, indicating his highness that it aims to serve the public and inform them of various developments, from government and other services, and to engage them in the development dialogue, and guide them to the best health, education and security practices.

This came in a speech delivered by His Highness at the launching ceremony of the ninth session of the International Government Communication Forum, which was held at the Sharjah Expo Center, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, started his speech with a narration about Sharjah's cultural giving, which spanned more than 40 years, pointing to its publication entitled Harvest of Years, which was issued in 2010, and how we are today, and we are in 2020, after 10 years have passed. His Highness added: “Public communication is communication that has a public benefit, which is carried out by citizenship groups, departments, and public bodies, all of which is stipulated in the law, as it constitutes a distinct public service, and it is directed to the general population, citizens and residents, and to all users of these services.” .

His Highness pointed out that those who carry out the task of public communication are craftsmen who practice communication professions, whether it is a manager or assigned to communicate, or is responsible for publications, as an editor, journalist, photographer, press attaché, public relations official, and web designer.

He mentioned the most important and most prominent means and mechanisms of public communication, saying that public communication recruits all appropriate communication mechanisms, and His Highness, Ruler of Sharjah, reviewed, in his speech, the tasks carried out by public communication, which included in six elements, the first is the revitalization of democratic life, and His Highness mentioned an example about it in Presenting government decisions, introducing public policies, explaining the projects of departments and bodies, engaging citizens, and organizing public debate. The second is to work on developing the behavior of citizens, and His Highness mentioned an example about it in the enthusiasm of the population to respect the environment, and the organization of prevention campaigns in the fields of security, hygiene and health, and contribute to social life, and respect for national money, and the third mentioned an example about it in the work to be involved Citizens in a sense of public service. The fourth is to give value to the national soil, and His Highness mentioned an example about it in valuing the national heritage to contribute to economic and tourism development, and the fifth supporting local initiatives. His Highness mentioned an example about it in the media about what is happening on the national soil in terms of introducing societies and their activities. The sixth was information about public facilities, and His Highness mentioned an example about them in explaining the role of different institutions, introducing public facilities, and accompanying residents in their endeavors to enjoy public aid, social services and social housing.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi continued: «During the coming years, government communication will play an active role in a set of key areas that we present in this year’s cycle, which is reflected in the consolidation of a culture of interaction and immediate response in the spirit of government action, and the role of modern communication technology in empowering societies, We also discuss the impact of government communication on developing the philosophy of cultural communication between peoples and promoting peace and dialogue between different nations, the importance of communication in achieving the well-being of the individual and society, and encouraging the individual to become a partner in the welfare of society and not only a recipient of government services ».
