The World Health Organization announced yesterday that the new Corona virus, which is still spreading around the world, has become a "Global Pandemic," while affirming that it can still be controlled, noting that the description of the pandemic came due the alarming levels of the outbreak and the severity of the disease, and also because of the alarming levels the world is witnessing to fail to take the necessary measures, and it follows that a sharper increase in the number of infected cases and deaths and affected countries is expected during the coming days and weeks.

The World Health Organization indicated that during the past two weeks, the number of cases of Covid-19 infection outside China increased by 13 times, and the number of affected countries increased by three times, and according to recent statistics, the number of confirmed cases of Covid Virus 19 reached about one thousand 126 confirmed cases in 114 Countries and the disease claimed the lives of 4,615 people around the world, while thousands of injured people are still struggling to survive in hospitals, and in the coming days and weeks, we are expected to see a sharper increase in the number of cases and deaths and affected countries.

"The World Health Organization has been evaluating this outbreak around the clock, and we are extremely concerned about the alarming levels of disease outbreak and its severity, and of the alarming levels of failure to take the necessary measures, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a press conference yesterday. At the same time, we have therefore concluded that the Covid-19 infection applies to the description of the pandemic.

"We have come to this opinion not only because of the alarming levels of disease outbreaks and severity, but also because of the alarming levels of failure to take the necessary measures," he added, noting that the pandemic is not a description that is called lightly or indifferently, but rather singular. If misused, it can cause irrational fear or unjustified recognition that the battle is losing, which will lead to more unnecessary suffering and death.

He continued: "We have never seen a pandemic caused by a Coronavirus. This is the first pandemic caused by the Corona Virus, and at the same time, we have never seen a pandemic that can be controlled, and the organization has harnessed all its energies to respond since it was notified of the first cases, and we continued to appeal to countries Every day to take urgent and fierce measures to confront this virus, and we continued to ring the alarm high and clear, "stressing that describing the situation as a pandemic does not change anything in the organization's assessment of the threat posed by this virus. It does not change anything in what the organization does, nor does it change anything that countries have to do.

He stressed that focusing on the number of cases and the number of affected countries alone is not sufficient to see the whole scene, especially since among all reported cases in 114 countries around the world, more than 90 percent of them are concentrated in only four countries, and among these four countries there are countries China and South Korea are witnessing a major decline in their epidemiological situation, as there are 81 countries that have not reported any cases and 57 countries that have reported 10 cases or less.

He also stressed that all countries can still change this pandemic if they strive to detect, examine, treat, and isolate cases and follow contacts and mobilize their people to contribute to response efforts, then countries with a handful of cases can prevent their transformation into clusters of cases and prevent the transformation of these clusters into Local community transition, noting that even countries that are already experiencing local transmission or major cluster groups can still change the course of things, as several countries have demonstrated that this virus can be controlled and controlled.

Finally, he pointed out that the challenge faced by many countries today that deal with large groups of cases or witness a local community transition and there are some countries that suffer from a lack of capacity, others that suffer from a lack of resources, in addition to other countries that suffer from a lack of determination.
