Trump announces closing borders with Canada to the "non-essential" movement

US President Donald Trump announced today Wednesday, the closure of the borders with Canada to the "non-essential" movement, stressing that commercial activity will not be affected by this measure.

This decision added to Trump preventing the majority of travelers from Europe, China and other regions of the world from entering the American lands due to the spread of the new Coronavirus.

"We will be, by mutual consent, temporarily closing our Northern Border with Canada to non-essential traffic. Trade will not be affected. Details to follow!" Trump tweeted.

Canada, the second economic partner of the United States, announced Monday that it closed its borders to all foreigners except US citizens.

The state of Washington is hardest hit among all of the US states by the emerging coronavirus, almost half of the deaths were reported in the United States, with 55 out of 115 cases, according to Johns Hopkins University. Just two hundred kilometers separate the major cities of Seattle and Vancouver.

The state of New York (northeast), which is also highly affected by the virus (16 deaths), is also bordering Canada.
